The Duty and Destiny Series is a superbly-crafted collection of historical novels with a strong naval/seafaring theme. The series follows the naval career, loves and business dealings of Englishman, Frederick Harris, a brave but reluctant mariner. Despite his disinclination, he is seemingly destined to become a Master and Commander of his own ship. Books best read in series order.
Book Eight – A Busy Season
After a ‘diplomatic’ mission to Morocco from his temporary home port of Gibraltar, Frederick is predominantly tasked with patrolling the Mediterranean seeking French and Spanish prizes. He’s sent out to intercept an enemy supply convoy – but a deadly trap awaits. I found book 8 in this series somewhat disappointing when compared to the other books in the series. It just didn't draw me in and keep me interested as did the other books in the series. I will continue reading the series since I have invested so much time with this character and hope the next book is better, like the earlier ones that originally drew me in. A word of warning, this series really needs to be read in order to understand what is going on.Product details

A Busy Season The Duty and Destiny Series Book 8 edition by Andrew Wareham Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Historically accurate, knowledgeable about details of period.
Excellent story; well written.
Leads you on to the next volume and is well crafted
I have bought all the books in this series and anxiously await the next book.
good
Andrew Wareham has become my favorite author. His knowledge of the history, economics, and the way people thought in that time period is vast.
this is a continuation of a fine series about a naval officer who is not presented as an unblemished hero but a normal man with normal failings.
The "Duty and Destiny" series of stories by Andrew Wareham are well written and easy to read. The historical period (British Navy and Homeland in the early 1800's) is very realistically described and seems very authentic. The stories move along with ample descriptive narrative, but doesn't drag out.
I've read the first nine books and have enjoyed each one. I would not hesitate to recommend them.
